William Smith competes in Saratoga Invitational

SARATOGA, N.Y.—The William Smith cross country team participated in the Saratoga Invitational last weekend, hosted by RPI. The Herons combined for a 17th-place team finish in the 18 team field.
Senior Leanne Roncolato (Meadville/Meadville, Pa.) was the top runner for William Smith, placing 82nd out of 202 runners. She completed the 5-kilometer course in a season-best time of 20:34, beating her previous-low of 20:58.
Including Roncolato, seven Herons recorded personal-best 5-k runs at RPI over the weekend. Junior Morgan MacCuaig (Rutland/Mendon, Vt.) (20:42), first-year Liz Mills (Tully/Lafayette, N.Y.) (21:06), sophomore Paige Myers (Massena/Massena, N.Y.) (21:46), junior Kathleen Kohl (Pembroke/Corfu, N.Y.) (21:58), sophomore Kathryn Lawton (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.) (22:54), and sophomore Maria Virgilio (Mt. Anthony (Vt.)/Bethlehem, N.Y.) (25:45) all registered season-best times.
The William Smith harriers will return to action on Oct. 28 when they host the CCOC Championships, set to begin at 11 a.m.
