Chabot leads Herons at Fredonia Invitational

GENEVA, N.Y.— The William Smith College cross country team had three runners place in the top 25 out of 65 runners at the Fredonia State Invitational this past weekend. The Herons finished in fifth place out of seven teams, with Fredonia State taking the top spot.

First-year Kathryn Chabot (Keene/Keene, N.H.), sophomore Jenny Davenport (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.), and senior Carrie Suss (Horseheads/Pine Valley, N.Y.) paced each other throughout the 5k race, finishing within six seconds of each other. Chabot crossed the line in 21:19 (20), while Davenport finished in 21:21 (21), and Suss completed the course in 21:25 (22). Breanna Greene (Hugh C. Williams/Canton, N.Y.) came in next for the Herons with a time of 22:42 (37). Karilea Gallow (Groton/Groton, N.Y.) followed Greene, finishing in 43rd place with a time of 23:03. Amanda Condello (Irondequoit/Rochester, N.Y.) and Claudia Offray (Kent Place School/Gillette, N.J.) finished the 5k race in 24:14 and 24:48, respectively.

The Herons run again on Oct. 5, at the UCAA Championships hosted by Hamilton College.
