Young breaks Heron record

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.-- William Smith College junior Amy Young (Hugh C. Williams/Canton, N.Y.) won her fifth race of the season with a 5k time of 18:04, breaking her own Heron 5k record by three seconds, at the RPI College Invitational. She helped William Smith to a fourth place finish in the nine-team field.

First-year Molly Rider (Concord/Concord, N.H.) finished 21st, running a personal best time of 19:51. Senior Brooke Gordon (Manhasset/Port Washington, N.Y.) posted a time of 21:00 and first-year Jennifer Davenport (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.) was just two second behind. First-year Breanna Greene (Hugh C. Williams/Canton, N.Y.) finished with a time of 21:41. Seniors Kerry Gannaway (Moses Brown/Providence, R.I.) and Kelly Hutchinson (Lawrenceville School/Jobstown N.J.) rounded out the group, finished with times of 21:45 and 21:47, respectively.

The Herons are back in action on Oct. 27, when they host the Heron Invitational.
