Young headed to nationals, again

BRONX, N.Y.-- William Smith College junior Amy Young (Hugh C. Williams/Canton, N.Y.) qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship meet this afternoon with an eighth place finish at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship meet. The two-time qualifier covered the 5k course in 19 minutes, 5 seconds.

To qualify for the national championship race, a runner must be on one of the top-5 teams in the region or one of the top-5 finisher not on a qualifying team. Young was the top individual qualifier.

William Smith's top harrier qualified for her second consecutive NCAA meet. She finished 33rd at last year's championship, earning All-American honors.

First-year Molly Rider (Concord/Concord, N.H.) was the next Heron across the finish line, placing 58th in the 205-runner field with a time of 20:51.
