Young wins, Herons finish second at SLU

HOUGHTON, N.Y.-- Junior Amy Young (Hugh C. Williams/Canton, N.Y.) captured her fourth win of the season with a 5k time of 19:27 at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Invitational. The Invitational was hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

First-year Molly Rider (Concord/Concord, N.H.) finished seventh with a time of 20:46. First-year Jennifer Davenport (Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.) was the Herons next finisher with a time of 21:45, pulling her into twelveth place. Breanna Greene (Hugh C. Williams, Canton, N.Y.) trailed Davenport with a time of 22:10. Senior Brooke Gordon (Mannhasset, Port Washington, N.Y.) ran a time of 22:22 and teammate senior Kelly Hutchinson (Lawrenceville School, Jobstown, N.J.) was just 13 seconds behind her with a time of 22:35. Sophomore Emily LaDuca (Mt. Mercy Academy/Hamburg, N.Y.) and Kerry Gannaway (Moses Brown/Providence, R.I. rounded out the group each posting a time of 23:15.

The Herons will travel next to the Rensselaer Invitational on Oct. 20, for its seventh race of the season.
