GENEVA, N.Y.—Three William Smith field hockey players were recognized by the Liberty League this afternoon. Junior forward Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.), senior goalie Sue Jordan (Boothbay/Boothbay, Maine), and first-year back Charlotte Styer (Governor Mifflin/Mohnton, Pa.) were named the conference’s Co-Offensive Performer of the Week, the Defensive Performer of the Week, and the Rookie of the Week, respectively.

With seven points in a 2-0 weekend for William Smith, Dennis became just the 10th Heron to record 100 career points. She went over the century mark with two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win over Ramapo College on Saturday. Dennis added another goal in a 2-0 shutout of Susquehanna the following afternoon to raise her career points total to 105, tying her for seventh on the all-time list. She also moved into sixth place on the school’s career goals list (44) and 13th place on the career assists list (17).

Jordan didn’t allow a goal in 128:58 over the weekend. She made three saves in 58:58 against Ramapo, and turned back both shots she faced in a 2-0 shutout of Susquehanna the following afternoon. The whitewashing was the ninth of her career.

Styer, the only first-year in William Smith’s starting lineup, played sweeper back in both games. She and her backline mates limited the opposition to just six shots against both the Roadrunners and the Crusaders.

The Herons return to action at 4 p.m., on Sept. 23, when they host Rensselaer in a conference match up on McCooey Field.
