Atwood scores Liberty League honors

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith sophomore forward Brooke Atwood (Marathon/Marathon, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Field Hockey Co-Performer of the Week today.
Atwood scored twice to lead the Herons (7-1, 3-0 Liberty) past Rochester in a battle of Liberty League unbeatens, 4-1. She batted home the game’s first goal less than two minutes into the contest. Then, with the Herons clinging to a 2-1 second half lead, Atwood blasted a shot from just inside the circle to give William Smith some breathing room. It’s the first multiple goal game of her career.
The Herons, who have won six straight, return to action at 4 p.m., on Oct. 5, when the Ithaca Bombers (6-3) visit McCooey Field.
