Barker’s trick earns Liberty League treat

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith junior Ashley Barker (Cape Elizabeth/Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was named the Liberty League Field Hockey Co-Offensive Performer of the Week this afternoon.
In the Herons’ lone contest last week, Barker led William Smith to a 4-1 road victory over Rochester with her first career hat trick. All three goals, including the game-winner, came in a span of just 7:03. Through nine games, Barker is fourth on the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists.
William Smith is 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the Liberty League. The Herons were ranked eighth in last week’s STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll. (The new poll is released each Tuesday.) William Smith is back in action at 4 p.m. on Oct. 4, when the Herons travel to Ithaca College.
