Barker named ECAC Division III Co-Player of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith junior Ashley Barker (Cape Elizabeth/Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was named the ECAC Division III Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 2, this afternoon. This is the second weekly honor she earned this week, following Monday’s Liberty League Co-Performer of the Week Award.
In the Heron’s lone game last week, a 4-1 win at Rochester, Barker scored three goals, including the game-winner, in a span of just 7:03. The outburst marked her first collegiate hat trick. Through 10 games, Barker is third on the team in scoring with four goals and three assists for 11 points.
William Smith, ranked ninth in the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll, is 9-1 overall and three 3-0 in Liberty League play. The Herons will host a pair of conference opponents on McCooey Field this weekend, squaring off against No. 4 Skidmore (9-0, 3-0) at 4 p.m. on Oct. 7, and Union at 2 p.m. on Oct. 8.
