GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith junior forward Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.) and senior back Lauren Fuller (Shaker/Loudonville, N.Y.) were honored by the Liberty League this afternoon. Dennis was named the conference’s field hockey Offensive Performer of the Week for the fourth time this season, while Fuller was named the Defensive Performer of the Week, the second time this year she has been so honored.

Dennis scored seven points during a dominating 8-1 win over Nazareth on Friday. She assisted on the game’s first goal and scored the game-winner. Dennis finished the day with three goals and an assist. The performance marked her fourth game-winner and second hat trick of the season. Dennis’ seven points moved her into third place on the William Smith career points list, six behind the all-time leader.

Fuller scored her first career hat trick against the Golden Flyers. She netted all three of her goals in the first half as the Herons charged out to a 6-0 halftime lead. William Smith’s defense allowed Nazareth just one shot on goal in each half and shut them out until the Herons held an 8-0 lead with just 14 minutes remaining.

William Smith (14-3, 7-0) is the host of the 2005 Liberty League Championship Tournament. The top-seeded Herons will face No. 4 Union (10-8, 3-4) in the first semifinal at 11 a.m. on Nov. 4. No. 2 Skidmore (13-4, 6-1) will square off with No. 3 Rochester (10-8, 4-3) at 2 p.m. The championship match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5. All three games will be played on McCooey Field.

Admission to the tournament is free. Fans unable to make the trip to Geneva can follow all of the action via real time statistics on the Liberty League Tournament Web site.
