Dolan grabs Liberty League praise, eyes century mark

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith senior Maggie Dolan (Towson/Towson, Md.) was named the Liberty League Field Hockey Co-Offensive Performer of the Week this afternoon. She scored nine points last week to raise her career total to 94, six shy of becoming the 11th Heron to reach the century mark.
Dolan led the Herons to a 2-0 week and the top seed in the Liberty League Tournament with four goals and an assist. During a 4-1 win at Hamilton, she recorded a goal and an assist. The following afternoon at St. Lawrence, Dolan notched her first hat trick of the season. Her third goal of the afternoon came in overtime to lift the Herons to a 4-3 win.
Dolan leads the Liberty League in goals (17) and game-winning goals (5) and is second in points (36), behind teammate, junior Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.).
William Smith will close out the regular season at home on Oct. 28, when the Herons host Nazareth College on McCooey Field at 4 p.m.
The Liberty League Tournament will be played on McCooey Field on Nov. 4-5. The Herons will square off with No. 4 Union at 11 a.m. on Nov. 4, with No. 2 Skidmore and No. 3 Rochester tangling in the other semifinal at 2 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Nov. 5.
