GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith seniors back Lea Desforges (Woodstock Union/Stockbridge, Vt.) and midfielder Sarah Silverio (Radnor/Villanova, Pa.) have been selected to play for the North squad in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North/South Senior All-Star Game. Hosted by Westfield State (Mass.) College, the annual contest is scheduled for 11 a.m., on Nov. 20.

The pair has led the Herons to a 13-2 overall record, while running through the Liberty League regular season with an unblemished 7-0 mark. Over the past four seasons, they have led William Smith to an impressive 55-19 (.743) overall record, including a 26-2 mark in conference play.

A two-time All-Liberty League selection, Desforges has anchored the Herons defense in each of the past four seasons. During her career, she has recorded seven defensive saves and has stymied opposing offenses to the tune of just 1.18 goals allowed per game. Desforges and the William Smith D have posted 27 shutouts since the start of the 2001 season.

A 2003 NFHCA second-team All-American, Silverio is a three-year starter in the midfield. In 61 career games, she has 24 points on nine goals and six assists. A clutch performer, Silverio counts five game-winning goals among her nine tallies.

The Herons, who moved up one spot in this week’s coaches poll to No. 6, close out the regular season at 1 p.m., on Oct. 30, at Nazareth College.
