GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith seniors Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.) and Liz Saucier (Old Town/Old Town, Maine) led the home team to a 3-2 victory in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior All-Star Game on McCooey Field. The two squads were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation and one overtime period, and went to penalty strokes to decide the contest.

Dennis scored the second goal and converted her penalty stroke for the home team.

Dennis will graduate as William Smith's all-time leader in career goals (89), career game-winning goals (17), career assists (39), and career points (217). Her point total ranks 10th all-time in Division III history. The two-time Liberty League Player of the Year broke the Heron season record for points with 70 and ranked third in the nation in points per game this season.

After posting back-to-back 16-point seasons in 2004 and 2005, Saucier exploded for 33 points this season. She finished second on the team and third in the Liberty League in points. Saucier led the conference in assists with a William Smith season record 17. She ranked fifth in the nation in assists per game this season.

Saucier was among those chosen to play in the All-Star game, but her name was left off the original announcement due to a clerical error.

In conjunction with the 2006 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship, William Smith College hosted the NFHCA Division III Senior All-Star Game. The contest, formerly known as the North-South All-Star Game, provided 39 seniors one last opportunity to play collegiate field hockey.
