Field hockey players earn All-Academic honors

GENEVA, N.Y.—Seven members of the William Smith College field hockey team were recently named to the Liberty League All-Academic Team. The Herons made their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and finished the season with the Liberty League Championship and an 18-4 overall record.

To earn a spot on the Liberty League All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2, and be at least a sophomore academically. The following Herons earned All-Academic honors:

• Senior midfielder Brooke Atwood (Marathon/Marathon, N.Y.), mathematics major
• Sophomore goalkeeper Katie DeKraker (Staples/Westport, Conn.)*
• Senior forward Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.), sports in society major
• Sophomore defender Katie Klutts (Harpursville/Harpursville, N.Y.)*
• Sophomore midfielder Katie Mancuso (Harpursville/Port Crane, N.Y.)*
• Senior midfielder Liz Saucier (Old Town/Old Town, Maine), psychology major
• Sophomore defender Charlotte Styer (Governor Mifflin/Mohnton, Pa.)*

* William Smith College students are not required to declare a major until the second semester of their sophomore year.
