Hamilton earns RACA Award; Herons hold at No. 10

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College first-year Kaitlyn Hamilton (Harpursville/Harpursville, N.Y.) was named the Rochester Area Colleges Athletics Co-Female Athlete of the Week after leading the Herons past Nazareth 8-1 last Friday. She was also recently named the Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week for her efforts.

Hamilton netted four goals and added an assist against Nazareth, breaking the William Smith record for points in a game with nine. The rookie forward also tied the Heron record for goals in a game (4), and goals in a game by a first-year. Hamilton now ranks second on the team in scoring with 11 goals and six assists for 28 points. She leads all first-years in the Liberty League in goals, assists, and points, ranks third overall in goals and points, and is tied for eighth in assists.

William Smith, 10th in the STX/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll for the second straight week, is ranked third in the nation in assists per game (2.94), seventh in points per game (10.94), and eighth in goals scored per game (4.0). Senior Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.) ranks second in the country in points per game (3.47), fifth in goals per game (1.35), and also holds a share of the eighth spot in assists per game (0.76) with classmate Liz Saucier (Old Town/Old Town, Maine).

The No. 1 seeded Herons will be in action on Nov. 3 when they host the Liberty League Tournament. William Smith will take on No. 4 RPI in the semifinal round at 11 a.m., while No. 2 St. Lawrence will play No. 3 Skidmore at 1:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday, Nov. 4, in the Championship game at 2 p.m.
