GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith field hockey team cracked the top 10 of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association weekly Division III coaches poll, moving from No. 11 to No. 10, while senior Liz Saucier (Old Town/Old Town, Maine) received another weekly award. She earned the Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Co-Female Athlete of the Week award one day after receiving Liberty League Co-Defensive Performer of the Week honors.

Saucier scored two goals and added four assists in two games when she also was a key part of a defense that allowed only one goal. Saucier scored a goal and had two assists against Hamilton Friday and again Saturday against St. Lawrence. She ranks second in the Liberty League in both points and assists.

William Smith (6-1) is among the national leaders in assists (2nd, 4.0), penalty corners (3rd, 14.3), points (4th, 14.0), goals (6th, 4.86), and scoring margin (6th, +3.71). Senior Sophie Dennis (Dana L. West/Port Byron, N.Y.) ranks in the top five in the nation in goals (5th, 1.71), assists (5th, 1.14), and points (2nd, 4.57). Saucier is close behind in the assist column, ranking sixth in the nation at 1.0 per game.

The Herons are back in action at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27, when they host the University of Rochester in a Liberty League match on McCooey Field. Fans unable to make it to the game can follow the action online.
