Scatton honored by NFHCA

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College Field Hockey Head Coach Sally Scatton was recently recognized at the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) convention Jan. 5-7 for earning her 300th win on Sept. 22, 2006. Scatton completed her 19th season at William Smith by leading the Herons to an overall record of 18-4, pushing her career record to 313-83-3.

Under Scatton’s guidance, the Herons won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 1992, 1997, and 2000, and the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship in 1999. William Smith has earned a postseason berth in each of her 19 seasons, including NCAA Tournament appearances for the past three years. Scatton’s Herons have won the Liberty League Championship eight times since the league was founded in 1995.

The three-time NFHCA National Coach of the Year and four-time NFHCA Regional Coach of the Year, Scatton has coached eight Liberty League Players of the Year, including two-time recipient Sophie Dennis ’07. Scatton also has received the Liberty League Coach of the Year Award six times, including 2006.
