Kulesa earns UCAA Defender of the Week award

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior Jessica Kulesa (Garden City/Garden City, N.Y.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Defender of the Week this afternoon. It is the second time she has earned the award this season.

Kulesa posted a .900 save percentage and a 0.40 GAA while leading the Herons to a 3-0 week. She recorded five saves and her third shutout of the season blanking Ithaca on Tuesday. On Friday, she was called on to stop just one shot in 43 minutes as the Heron defense posted its seventh shutout of the season. The following afternoon, she stopped three of the four shots she faced in 62 minutes of work.

Kulesa leads the UCAA in goals against average (0.64) and is third in shutouts. She also boasts a 10-2 record and an .865 save percentage.

The Herons have won nine in a row and return to action at 4 p.m., on Oct. 15, when they host fifth-ranked and unbeaten Cortland (10-0) on McCooey Field. The game will be carried live online at: campus.hws.edu/athletics/herons/fh/live/xlive.htm.
