GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College senior goalie Jessica Kulesa (Garden City/Garden City, N.Y.) will represent the Herons in the 2003 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North/South Senior All-Star game at 10 a.m., on Nov. 22, at Lebanon Valley College, in Annville, Pa.

Of the four goalkeepers invited to the annual all-star game, Kulesa has the lowest goals against average and the second best save percentage.

This season Kulesa leads the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association with a 0.76 goals against average and a conference best .845 save percentage. She has started all 16 games for the Herons this season, posting a 12-4 record, while helping William Smith post eight shutouts, including four solo efforts. Kulesa has earned three UCAA Defensive Performer of the Week awards this season, including the most recent award after blanking then seventh-ranked Skidmore, 1-0 in overtime.

For her career, Kulesa boasts 261 saves, a 1.03 goals against average, an .834 save percentage, and 11 shutouts. The two-time All-UCAA selection sports a 38-13 career record in 56 games. Kulesa earned NFHCA All-Region second-team honors in 2001.

The 13th-ranked Herons finished their conference slate with a perfect 7-0 record, earning the top seed and the right to host the UCAA Championship Tournament, Nov. 8-9. The league champion earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Kulesa would like nothing better than to have to decline the invitation to the North/South game, since it will be played on the morning of the Division III Championship game. William Smith has won the national championship three times (1992, 1997, 2000).
