GENEVA, N.Y.—Two William Smith College seniors were recently named to the All-America teams by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Forward Sheila McKevitt (Clinton/Clinton, N.Y.) garnered first team honors, while midfielder Erin Weir (Blair Academy/Califon, N.J.) received second team accolades.

The 2002 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year, McKevitt led William Smith with 34 points on 14 goals and six assists. She became just the ninth Heron to record 100 career points, finishing her career with 104 points tied for seventh on the all-time list. Her 43 career goals tied her for fifth place on that list. A two-time first team NFHCA All-Region selection, McKevitt was selected to play in the annual North-South senior all-star game.

A 2002 first team All-UCAA selection, Weir led William Smith in assists this season with 13, just two shy of the single season record. She finished her career with 13 goals and 18 assists for 44 points, ranking her 11th in assists and 19th in points. A first-team NFHCA All-Region honoree this season after receiving second team honors a year ago, Weir also was selected to play in the North-South game.

William Smith finished the season with a 14-7 record, finishing second in the UCAA with a 5-2 record. The Herons were the runner up in the conference tournament as well.

In four seasons, McKevitt and Weir helped William Smith to a 63-19 record (.768), two NCAA Tournament bids, including the 2000 national championship, and two ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament bids, including the 1999 regional championship.
