September 12, 2001

GENEVA, N.Y.--The William Smith field hockey team is ranked No. 2 in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll. Three of the Herons' first four opponents are ranked in the top-10.

William Smith was 1-1 last week, defeating SUNY-Geneseo 5-0 and dropping a 4-0 decision to defending Division II National Champion, Lock Haven University. Against the Blue Knights, senior midfielder Nicky Livingston (Whitney Point/Whitney Point, N.Y.) scored two goals, leaving her just three points shy of becoming just the seventh Heron to reach 100 points in a career. Senior forward Jackie Hall (Berkshire School/New Port, R.I.) added a goal, giving her 94 points for her career.

William Smith (2-2) returns to action this weekend when they host the William Smith Invitational. The Herons take on Manhattanville College on Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. On Sept. 16, William Smith hosts No. 19 Susquehanna University.
