Six Herons named Regional All-Americans

November 9, 2001

GENEVA, N.Y.--Six William Smith College field hockey players were named National Field Hockey Coaches Association North Atlantic Region All-Americans. Seniors Jackie Hall (Berkshire School/Newport, R.I.) and Nicky Livingston (Whitney Point/Whitney Point, N.Y.) and junior Sheila McKevitt (Clinton/Clinton, N.Y.) were named to the first-team. Juniors Brigid Lynch (Manhasset/Manhasset, N.Y.) and Erin Weir (Blair Academy/Califon, N.J.) and sophomore Jessica Kulesa (Garden City/Garden City, N.Y.) represent the Herons on the second-team.

Hall led the team in scoring this season with 10 goals, including five game-winners, and six assists for 26 points. The forward finished her career with 49 goals and 20 assists for 118 points, tying her for fourth place on the William Smith all-time scoring list with Livingston. On Oct. 6, Hall became the eighth Heron to reach the 100-point plateau. She was also named to the NYSWCAA first-team.

Livingston was third on the team in scoring with six goals, including two game-winners, and 10 assists for 22 points. The midfielder completed her William Smith career with 40 goals and 38 assists for 118 points. She holds the Heron records for career assists and single-season assists (17). On Sept. 22, she became just the seventh player in school history to score 100 points in her career, just ahead of Hall. Livingston is also a first-team NYSWCAA selection.

McKevitt was second on the team in scoring this season with 10 goals, including two game-winners, and four assists for 24 points. The forward has scored 29 goals and assisted on 12 others for 70 points in her three seasons. In addition to the NFHCA honor, McKevitt was named to the NYSWCAA second-team.

Lynch started all 18 games for the Herons this season. The back was one of the leaders of William Smith's stingy defense that gave up just 1.17 goals-per-game this season.

Weir was fifth on the team in scoring this season with four goals, including two game-winners, and three assists for 11 points. The midfielder has scored 12 goals and five assists for 29 points in her career.

Kulesa started 14 of the Herons' 18 games this season, posting a record of 12-2. The goalie recorded 3.5 shutouts, a goals against average of 0.96, and a save percentage of .878 in 1,025 minutes. Like McKevitt, Kulesa is a member of the NYSWCAA second-team.

William Smith was 14-4 this season, winning the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Conference for the second straight year with a 7-0 record and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
