Heron golfers compete in North Country

CANTON, N.Y.--The William Smith golf team opened its second varsity season with a sixth place showing in the two-day St. Lawrence Invitational. The Herons topped teams from St. Lawrence, Humber, and Nazareth.
First-year Lauren Zeitler (Sayville/Sayville, N.Y.) was the first Heron in the clubhouse, carding a two-day total of 189 and tying for 20th place overall. Classmate Nickie Calandra (Camden/Blossvale, N.Y.) was the second player home for William Smith, finishing 23rd with a 193.
The Herons are back in action on Sept. 18-19, in the Cortland State Martin Memorial.
