Herons place 4th in Martin Memorial

CORTLAND, N.Y.—The William Smith golf team finished fourth in the five team Dr. Larry Martin Memorial this afternoon. The Herons finished the two-day event with a team score of 887, 32 strokes better than SUNY Plattsburgh.

Senior Sarah Coffin (St. George’s School/Bryn Mawr, Pa.) led William Smith with a two-round score of 182, finishing seventh in the 31 golfer field.

The Herons played par 74 Elm Tree Golf Course on Sunday, and completed the event on the par 72 Cortland Country Club this afternoon. Host Cortland was the overall winner with a score of 733.

William Smith, in its first season as a varsity program, will host its first home match on Sept. 23, when Nazareth College visits the Clifton Springs Country Club at 4 p.m.
