GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College sophomore Sarah Dillon (Blair Academy/Oldwick, N.Y.) and junior Jessica Tanner (Guilderland/Schenectady, N.Y.) were named the Liberty League Women’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Performer of the Week and Co-Defensive Performer of the Week, respectively. The duo helped William Smith to a 2-1 week, including a pair of conference victories.

Dillon netted 10 goals and added an assist for 11 points and collected six draw controls, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers. In a midweek game at Nazareth, Dillon led the Herons with two goals in a 9-4 setback to the Golden Flyers. She also earned three draw controls in that game.

Three days later in a conference game with Vassar, Dillon matched her career-high with six goals, including the final two in the last 1:37 to give the Herons a 12-11 come-from-behind win over the Brewers. The following afternoon, she posted two more goals and added an assist as William Smith edged RPI 7-6. Scoring at least one point in all 14 games, Dillon leads the team in goals (37), points (45), and caused turnovers (21).

Tanner anchored the William Smith defense leading the team in caused turnovers (6), draw controls (7), and ground balls (10), and added a game-winning goal and an assist. Picking up a ground ball and draw control against the Golden Flyers, the preseason All-American was outstanding against Vassar, recording four caused turnovers and collecting four draw controls and seven ground balls. She also added an assist in the comeback win.

The following afternoon against RPI, Tanner tallied the game-winning goal on a free position shot, caused two turnovers, and collected a pair of draw controls, and two ground balls as the Herons held the Red Hawks three goals below their season average. She leads the team in draw controls (26), is second in ground balls (39) and third in caused turnovers (18).

William Smith (7-7) closes out the 2005 season on April 27, at seventh-ranked Cortland at 4 p.m.
