GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College sophomore goalie Morgan Baird (Pingree School/Gloucester, Mass.) earned her second weekly accolade this afternoon. Twenty-four hours after being named the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week, Baird was tabbed the ECAC Division III Defensive Player of the Week. She backstopped the Herons to a 2-0 record with a 7.62 goals against average and a 62.8 save percentage.
On April 11, Baird made a career-high 18 saves as William Smith defeated Rochester 13-9. Three days later, she turned aside nine Hamilton offerings as the Herons handed the Continentals their first Liberty League loss, 8-7 in overtime.
A starter in all 12 games this season, Baird has made 124 saves and boasts a 9.28 goals against average. She has reached double digits in saves seven times.
William Smith returns to action at 4 p.m. on April 21, when the Herons travel to Rensselaer.
