GENEVA, N.Y.—Three William Smith College student-athletes were among those honored by the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association today. Senior midfielder Sarah Dillon (Blair Academy/Oldwick, N.J.) and first-year attacker Molly Fitzgerald (Gould Academy/Sudbury, Mass.) were named to the Women’s Lacrosse All-State first team, while sophomore defender Torie Allen (The Governor’s Academy/Dedham, Mass.) received third-team recognition.

Dillon led the Liberty League in points per game (4.94) after scoring 48 goals and assisting on 31 more. She was named the conference offensive player of the week following a 20-point weekend that included seven goals and five assists at Clarkson. A three-time All-Liberty League pick, Dillon earned third-team All-State honors last season. She closed out her career with 128 goals and 47 assists for 175 points.

The Liberty League Rookie of the Year, Fitzgerald was second on the team in goals (31), assists (11), and points (42) this season. She was named the conference rookie of the week three times. Fitzgerald started all 16 games this season, recording at least one point in 15 of those contests. She notched a season-high five points (3g, 2a) in a 15-5 win over Denison.

Allen led William Smith in ground balls with 30 and in turnovers caused with 13. A starter in all 16 games, she recorded an assist in the season-opening win over Dickinson. Allen’s finest game of the season came at the expense of conference-rival Rochester. She collected a season-high seven ground balls and forced five turnovers in a 14-8 win over the Yellowjackets.

William Smith finished the season with a 10-6 record, including a 6-2 mark in the Liberty League. Over the past 26 seasons, the Herons have posted an impressive 25 winning seasons.
