Heron lax remains undefeated in league play

CANTON, N.Y.—The William Smith College lacrosse team defeated St. Lawrence 15-6 in a Liberty League contest this afternoon. The Herons remain undefeated in conference play at 4-0, and improve to 7-2 overall, while the Saints drop to 4-5 overall and an even 3-3 in the league.

For the second day in a row, senior Sarah Dillon (Blair Academy/Oldwick, N.J.) led the William Smith offense. Today she tallied eight points on two goals and six assists. Junior Rachel Stahl (Charles W. Baker/Baldwinsville, N.Y.) put up four points with two goals and two assist, while first-year Molly Fitzgerald (Gould Academy/Sudbury, Mass.) netted three goals and sophomore Michaela Parnell (Guilford/Guilford, Conn.) added two goals and a helper.

The Herons outscored the Saints 9-0 in the first half of play, holding SLU scoreless until the 33rd minute. Sophomore goalkeeper Becky Josefiak (West Seneca East/West Seneca, N.Y.) anchored the defense, collecting 13 saves en route to her fourth win of the season.

William Smith will be in action again on April 13 when it hosts Rochester for a Liberty League game at 4 p.m. on McCooey Field.
