Stahl, Goodkind earn Liberty League Awards

GENEVA, N.Y.—Two members of the William Smith College lacrosse team were recognized by the Liberty League this afternoon. Junior Rachel Stahl (Charles W. Baker/Baldwinsville, N.Y.) was named the league’s Performer of the Week, and first-year Sarah Goodkind (Millbrook School/Riverside, Conn.) was tabbed Co-Rookie of the Week, after leading the Herons to a 1-1 record in Wellington, Fla., last week.
A midfielder, Stahl paced the William Smith offense with five goals, an assist, and two ground balls in a 13-9 win over 11th-ranked Dickinson last Tuesday. She connected on all five of the she took, including a free position shot, in the Herons’ season-opener. Stahl went on to pick up a ground ball in William Smith’s loss to seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Thursday.
Goodkind totaled four goals and an assist in the Herons’ two games last week. The defender netted two and added a helper and three ground balls against the Red Devils, her first collegiate game, before tallying two goals against the Diplomats.
The Herons are currently 1-1 and ranked 17th in the country.
