William Smith lax ranked 18th in national poll

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith lacrosse team is ranked 18th in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason poll. The Herons finished the 2005-06 season atop the Liberty League standings with a 7-1 record, and ended their season with a 10-6 overall mark.
William Smith’s schedule features contests with seven nationally-ranked opponents, three of which are Liberty League members. No. 6 Cortland, No. 7 Franklin & Marshall, No. 14 Dickinson, No. 16 Union, No. 17 Nazareth, No. 19 Hamilton, and No. 22 Skidmore will all meet the Herons in 2007.
William Smith welcomed back 16 veterans, including All-Liberty League selections senior Sarah Dillon (Blair Academy/Oldwick, N.J.), senior Jessica Scott (Waynflete School/Portland, Maine), junior Morgan Baird (Pingree School/Gloucester, Mass.), and junior Sarah Davidson (South Burlington/South Burlington, Vt.). The Herons also added seven first-years to this year’s squad. The Herons open their season in Wellington, Fla., on March 13, where they will take on Dickinson.
