ECAC honors Lasda for second consecutive week

GENEVA, N.Y.—For the second week in a row William Smith College attacker Gretchen Lasda (West Genesee/Camillus, N.Y.) has been named the ECAC Upstate Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. Collecting her third honor this week and seventh in the past two weeks, Lasda also earned UCAA Offensive Performer of the Week and RACA Co-Female Athlete of the Week.

Lasda continued to drive the Heron offense this past weekend with 10 goals and two assists for 12 points in a pair of crucial league victories for William Smith. She tallied five goals and two assists in a resounding 14-2 win over then 16th-ranked and previously unbeaten Skidmore College. The following afternoon, Lasda turned in her third consecutive five-goal outing in a 14-8 win against first place Union College. In addition to scoring over a third of the team’s goals, she won eight draw controls and picked up four ground balls.

Lasda has scored at least five points in seven of William Smith’s previous eight games and netted at least five goals five different times. For the season, she has racked up a career-high 41 goals and 13 assists for a league-best 54 points.
