Splain named UCAA Defensive Player of the Week
April 26, 2004 Splain collected nine saves in a 15-7 win over Vassar College for her record 56th career victory. The following afternoon at Rensselaer she stopped 12 Red Hawks shots, including three on free position attempts, to come away with a 10-9 triple overtime win. For the weekend, Splain posted a 7.44 goals against average, a .568 save percentage, and picked up three ground balls. Collecting a career-high 171 saves this season, she is tops in the league in save percentage (.629) and third in goals against average (6.62). The Herons will play again on May 1, hosting fourth-seed Skidmore at 11 a.m. on McCooey Field. Second-seeded Union College will take on No. 3 Hamilton College in the second semifinal at 2 p.m. The winners of those games will advance to the title tilt on May 2, at noon, on McCooey Field. |
