William Smith set to host UCAA Tournament

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith lacrosse team captured the top seed and the right to host the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament with for the second consecutive season with a pair of victories over the weekend. The Herons will host Union, Hamilton, and Skidmore on May 1-2 on McCooey Field, as the four teams vie for the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Ranked sixth in the nation, William Smith (14-1, 7-1 UCAA) will take on fourth-seeded and 19th-ranked Skidmore in the first semifinal contest on May 1, at 11 a.m. The Herons downed the Thoroughbreds 14-2 during their regular season meeting.

In the second semifinal of the day, second-seeded Union College (11-3, 7-1 UCAA) will go up against third-seeded Hamilton College (10-3, 6-2 UCAA) at 2 p.m. The Dutchwomen triumphed over the Continentals 12-9 earlier in the year.

The winners advance to the title game slated for noon, on May 2, at McCooey Field. Admission to the weekend’s games is free.
