Wynn collects weekly RACA honor

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Rochester Area Colleges Association recently named William Smith senior midfielder Amanda Wynn (Loomis Chaffee/Aspen, Colo.) its Co-Female Athlete of the Week. She notched a team-high five goals in two games to lead the seventh-ranked Herons (14-2) to their first Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Lacrosse Championship this past weekend.

Selected as the Most Valuable Player of the UCAA Tournament, the center draw specialist scored three goals, including the game-winner, in William Smith’s 10-4 semifinal win over St. Lawrence. The following afternoon Wynn netted two more goals to help the Herons to a 9-6 victory over Skidmore in the UCAA Championship game.

A first-team All-UCAA selection this season, she also recorded a team-high four draw controls on the weekend and four ground balls. She is third on the team in scoring with 22 goals and nine assists and leads the Herons with 26 draw controls for the year.

Led by longtime Head Coach Pat Genovese, the Herons are making their 15th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. William Smith plays ninth-ranked St. Mary’s College (15-3) in Salisbury, Md. on May 10, at 2 p.m, with the winner advancing to the regional championship on May 11, at 1 p.m.
