William Smith ranked 22nd in national preseason poll

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith soccer team, led by legendary Head Coach Aliceann Wilber, will enter the 2005 season ranked 22nd in the NSCAA/adidas Division III preseason poll.

The Herons are coming off a 13-4-3 season, in which they reached the ECAC Upstate Championship semifinals.

Offensively, William Smith will be lead by sophomore forward Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.). The 2004 Liberty League Rookie of the Year, Burnett-Kurie led the Herons in scoring with 15 points, including registering six goals, all game winners, and three assists.

The heralded William Smith defense with be led by a trio of All-NYWCAA honorees Pria Young (Council Rock/Richboro, Pa.), Seraphine Hamilton (Peddie School/Trenton, N.J.), and junior goalkeeper Nikki Dudley (Chittenago/Canastota, N.Y.).

The Herons will open their season on the road, when they challenge Keuka on Sept. 1 at 4 p.m.
