the Week honors during the week
ending Oct. 23. |
GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College sophomore striker Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) was selected the ECAC Upstate Player of the Week for her performance during the week ending Oct. 23.
Over the weekend, Burnett-Kurie tallied 10 points, on four goals and two assists, as the Herons’ clinched the top-seed in the Liberty League Tournament. On Oct. 21, she netted a pair of goals and an assist as William Smith downed Vassar, 4-0. The following afternoon, Burnett Kurie turned in another five-point effort (2-1) as the Herons’ whitewashed the Red Hawks, 3-0. She leads the conference in points (37), goals (16), points per game (2.64), and game-winning goals (6). Burnett-Kurie leads fifth-ranked William Smith in assists with five.
William Smith (13-0-1, 6-0-1 Liberty League) returns to action as the Herons travel to Cortland on Oct. 26 for a 4 p.m. showdown.
