GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Upstate Goalkeeper of the Week this afternoon for her performance during the week ending on Oct. 2.
Dudley stopped two Hamilton shots on Oct. 1 to lead the Herons’ to a 3-0 road victory over the Continentals, en route to recording her eighth consecutive shutout of the season, which ties her for the third longest scoreless streak in school history with the 1997 club. The 1988 national championship team established the longest consecutive shutout streak at 12 matches, while the 1991 squad fell two shy of that benchmark.
She was also selected as the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week and the RACA Female Athlete of the Week for her contribution to the William Smith conference win.
The Herons are the only NCAA soccer team, men or women in any division, to not surrender a goal this season. Dudley leads the nation in shutouts (8), goals against average (0.00) and save percentage (1.000).
William Smith (8-0-0, 3-0-0 Liberty) will welcome conference rival Skidmore College (10-1-0, 2-0-0) to Cozzens Field on Oct. 7 at 4 p.m.
