GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior goalkeeper Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) was selected as the Rochester Area College Athletics Female Athlete of the Week. She was named the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week yesterday.

During a 3-0 victory over previously unbeaten Hamilton College on Oct. 1, Dudley turned away a pair of Continental offerings to stretch her unbeaten and unscored-upon streak to eight games. She is currently tied for the third longest scoreless streak in school history with the 1997 team. The 1988 national championship team established the Herons’ longest consecutive shutout streak at 12 matches, while the 1991 squad fell two shy of that benchmark.

William Smith is the only NCAA soccer team, men or women in any division, not to surrender a goal this season. Dudley leads the nation in shutouts, goals against average (0.00) and save percentage (1.000).

The Herons (8-0-0, 3-0-0 Liberty) will welcome conference opponents Skidmore College (10-1-0, 2-0-0) and Union College (7-1-1, 2-1-1) to Cozzens Field over the weekend. William Smith and the Thoroughbreds will tangle on Oct. 7 at 4 p.m., while the Herons and the Dutchwomen will square off on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
