GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior Seraphine Hamilton (The Peddie School/Trenton, N.J.) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas® Division III All-America third-team earlier this afternoon. She advanced to the national ballot after earning first-team All-Region honors.

A two-time All-Liberty League first-team honoree, Hamilton anchored the Herons’ backline that allowed just nine goals and posted 12 shutouts. She was named the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week twice and was selected as the Most Valuable Defensive Player in both the Heron Cup and Red Dragon Invitational this year.

During her three seasons at William Smith, Hamilton helped lead the Herons to their sixth NCAA semifinal appearance in 2002, the ECAC Northeast Championship in 2003, a record of 45-13-8 (.742), and 36 shutouts. She also has tallied a goal and five assists.
William Smith finished the year with a 13-4-3 overall record, its 21st straight winning season and eighth consecutive with at least 13 victories. The Herons advanced to the ECAC Upstate Championship semifinals, losing to Plattsburgh State 1-0.

Hamilton is William Smith’s 30th player selected to the NSCAA Division III All-America teams since the program began in 1986.
