ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The William Smith College soccer team earned its 11th victory of the season this afternoon defeating Nazareth College, 1-0.
Sophomore forward Johanna Murphy (Amity/Woodbridge, Conn.) netted the game-winner in the 44th minute. Classmate Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) registered the assist.
That would be all the offense the Herons would need as William Smith’s defense stifled the Golden Flyers attack. Junior goaltender Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) turned away six Nazareth offerings to record her 11th shutout victory of the season.
The Herons will return to conference action on Oct. 21 as they travel to Vassar College. The game will begin at 4 p.m.
