GENEVA, N.Y.—After 110 minutes of conference action, the William Smith College and Union College soccer teams played to a 1-1 stalemate this afternoon on William Smith Field.
The fourth-ranked Herons (9-0-1, 4-0-1 Liberty League) opened the scoring in the 34th minute as sophomore forward Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) volleyed as crossing pass from senior Pria Young (Council Rock/Richmond, Pa.) into the left corner of the net. William Smith junior goalkeeper Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) turned away a season-high 11 offerings, while senior goaltender Julie Gawronski (Dunkirk/Dunkirk, N.Y.) corralled six shots to preserve the tie.
