ONEONTA, N.Y.—Junior Kate Warner notched her second goal of the season off an assist from first-year Laura Burnett-Kurie as the William Smith soccer team tied defending national champion Oneonta State 1-1. Warner put the Herons up 1-0 in the 14th minute, but the Red Dragons’ Mary Velan tied the game in the 44th minute with her second goal of the season. Sophomore goalie Nikki Dudley made five stops for the Herons. Oneonta had a 15-8 advantage on shots and a 5-2 edge on corner kicks. William Smith will host the Heron Cup this weekend, matching up against Geneseo on Sept. 11, at 11 a.m., and Allegheny the same time the following day.
