Burnett-Kurie honored by ECAC

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith soccer forward Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) has been named the ECAC Upstate Offensive Player of the Week for her play last week.
The Herons traveled to Texas for two games over the weekend, where Burnett-Kurie tallied three unassisted goals on just three shots to lead the Herons to a 1-1 trip. The junior scored William Smith’s lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to fourth-ranked Trinity University, before netting two goals in a 4-0 victory over Southwestern University. Burnett-Kurie, also named the Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week, currently leads the league in goals (6) and points (13).
The Herons are ranked fifth in the New York region, according to the weekly National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, up from the No. 6 spot last week.
William Smith will open league play on Sept. 22 when it hosts Vassar College at 4 p.m.
