Burnett-Kurie named D3Kicks.com All-American

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College junior Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) was recently named to the D3Kicks.com Women’s Soccer All-America Third Team.
The Liberty League Player of the Year, Burnett-Kurie started all 20 games this season and tallied a league-leading 11 goals and 25 points. She also led the Herons in assists with three. Burnett-Kurie was named to the all-league first team and received Liberty League Offensive Player of the Week and ECAC Upstate Player of the Week honors once this fall.
Burnett-Kurie played a key role in leading William Smith to its 19th straight postseason berth this year, which resulted in an ECAC Championship and an overall record of 11-6-3. She led the Herons past many teams, including Elmira, a game in which she totaled five points (2 goals, 1 assist), and Southwestern, where she netted two goals. After three years at William Smith, Burnett-Kurie boasts 35 career goals, 11 career assists, and 81 career points. She ranks eighth on the Herons’ career points list, eight behind Kathleen Shamblen ’86, and shares the seventh spot on the career goals list with Shamblen, one behind Ally Shirtz ’94.
A two-time All-New York State selection, Burnett-Kurie is also a standout in the classroom. She was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team for the second straight year.
