Burnett-Kurie tabbed NSCAA All-American

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College soccer standout Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) was named to the 2006 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Women’s Soccer All-America Third Team.

Burnett-Kurie led the Liberty League in goals (11) and points (25) this season, earning the league’s Player of the Year award and a spot on the All-Liberty League first team for her efforts. A forward, Burnett-Kurie started all 20 games and led the Herons in assists with three. She is a three-time All-State pick, a two-time NSCAA All-Northeast Region first-team selection, and earned third-team All-America honors from D3Kicks.com this year. The junior is tied for seventh on the William Smith list for career goals (35) and holds the eighth spot for career points (81).

In addition to many athletic accolades, Burnett-Kurie was named to both the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team and the Liberty League All-Academic Team for the second straight year.

Burnett-Kurie led the Herons to their second ECAC Upstate title in four years, and their 19th consecutive postseason appearance. William Smith also recorded its 23rd straight winning season, posting an 11-6-3 overall mark.
