Herons drop to #18 Ithaca, 1-0

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith soccer team closed out its regular season schedule today, falling to nationally-ranked Ithaca College 1-0. The Herons drop to 10-5-1 overall, while the Bombers improve to 14-2-1.

Ithaca’s Chelsey Feldman (Hewlett/Lynbrook, N.Y.) netted the lone goal of the game in the 26th minute after a corner kick from Beth Hoover (Greece Athena/Rochester, N.Y.).

Bomber goalkeeper Aimee Meacham (Massena/Massena, N.Y.) made two key saves late in the second half, as junior Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) and sophomore Katie Compton (The Loomis Chaffee School/West Hartford, Conn.) each had opportunities to score for the Herons.

Senior goalkeeper Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) recorded five saves for William Smith in her last regular season home game, while Meacham also finished with five saves.

The Herons, seeded second in the Liberty League Tournament, will travel to Union on Nov. 3 to take on No. 3 Skidmore in the semifinal round at 1:30 p.m.
