Herons place three on All-Northeast Team

GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith College soccer team placed three of its student-athletes on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Northeast Region Teams. Senior Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenagno, N.Y.) and junior Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) were both named to the first team, while senior Alex Reiben (Guilford/Guilford, Conn.) was selected to the second team. The Herons finished with an 11-6-3 overall record for their 23rd straight winning season.
One of the top goalkeepers in the nation, Dudley recorded a 53-16-9 mark in goal over four years. She owns a career goals against average of 0.49, and tallied 46 shutouts in 79 games. A four-time All-Liberty League selection, Dudley ranked 25th in the nation with a 0.49 GAA this fall. She was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team for the second year in a row, and was named to the D3Kicks.com All-Region Team. Dudley ranks first in career shutouts at William Smith, and second in career wins and saves.
Burnett-Kurie netted a league-leading 11 goals and totaled a league-high 25 points this season, earning the Liberty League Player of the Year award for her efforts. A forward, Burnett-Kurie started all 20 games and led the Herons in assists with three. She was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team for the second straight year, and earned third-team All-America honors from D3Kicks.com. Burnett-Kurie is tied for seventh on the all-time list for career goals (35) and holds the eighth spot for career points (81).
A midfielder, Rieben ranked fourth on the team in points with eight, after netting four goals this season. She netted three game-winners, leading the Herons past Allegheny, Elmira, and Vassar. Rieben started 19 games, helping William Smith to its 19th consecutive postseason berth and an ECAC Championship. A first-team All-Liberty League pick, Rieben closed out her career with 18 goals and four assists over 77 games.
