GEORGETOWN, Texas—The William Smith College soccer team evened its record at 3-3-0 today with a dominating 4-0 win over Southwestern University. The Herons got two goals in each half while limiting the Pirates to just five shots in the match.

Sophomore Katie Compton (Loomis Chaffee School/West Hartford, Conn.) got William Smith on the board, converting a penalty kick in the 12th minute of play. Junior Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.) notched her first score of the day in the 31st minute.

In the 62nd minute, Burnett-Kurie notched her team-leading sixth goal of the season and first-year Melissa Magazine (Trevor Day School/New York, N.Y.) wrapped up the day’s scoring with her first collegiate goal in the 82nd minute.

Senior Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenango, N.Y.) made all three Heron saves, while Libby Greene played the final five minutes for William Smith without facing a shot.

The Herons are back in action on Sept. 22, when they open up their Liberty League slate at home against Vassar at 4 p.m.
