GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith soccer team honored two of its members at the Annual William Smith Athletics Awards Banquet on May 1. Senior Alex Rieben (Guilford/Guilford, Conn.) and sophomore Allison Foust (Mt. Mansfield Union/Richmond, Vt.) received awards.
Rieben was tabbed the team’s most valuable player, earning the Aliceann Wilber Soccer Award. A captain, she netted four goals this fall, three of which were game-winners. Rieben supplied the Herons with strong leadership in the midfield all season. A two-time All-State and Liberty League first team pick, she finished her career with 18 goals and four assists.
Foust was honored with the Soccer Coach’s Award, which goes to an outstanding player on the Herons’ junior varsity squad. Foust did see time in two varsity games this season, helping William Smith past Elmira and Skidmore. A hard-working, energetic midfielder and occasional defender, Foust will challenge for a full-time spot on the varsity in 2007.
Four members of the soccer team earned department awards at the banquet. Senior Nikki Dudley (Chittenango/Chittenagno, N.Y.), senior Ashley Kent (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.), junior Laura Burnett-Kurie (Oyster River/Durham, N.H.), and sophomore Ali Art (Herricks/Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) were all honored.
