GENEVA, N.Y. -- It's been a good three weeks for William Smith College junior Leah Cornwell (Wheatland-Chili/Caledonia, N.Y.). A day after she was named Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Goalie of the Week for the third consecutive week, Cornwell received the same honor from the Eastern College Athletic Conference. This weekend she recorded back-to-back shutouts against Nazareth and Hamilton as the Heron soccer team improved to 7-4-1.

Cornwell made six saves, while shutting out Nazareth, 1-0, in Wednesday's rematch of the 1999 NCAA Regional Championship game. On Saturday, Cornwell made 12 saves, holding off the Hamilton Continentals through regulation and two overtime periods, as the teams fought to a scoreless draw.

Over the past three weeks, Cornwell and the Herons have posted a 4-1-1 record. During that span she has stopped 48 of 51 shots with a goals against average of 0.48, while recording three and a half shutouts.

William Smith is on the road for two games this weekend to close out its UCAA schedule. They face the No. 8 undefeated Union College Dutchwomen on Oct. 13, at 4 p.m., followed by the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds on Oct. 14, at 1 p.m.
